Barbour Pointe
Barbour Pointe, a Coastal Conservation Community, is setting a new standard for sustainable, conservation-oriented coastal development. It is the first development of its kind to incorporate low impact site development, independently certified energy—and resource—efficient homes, community solar power generation, and preservation of riparian buffers and green space in a pristine coastal environment. Clark Creative was selected to handle the public relations, marketing, media placement and design for the development.
Concept:: Looking at values of the community and designing the pieces with the same care and principles, our creative team designed pieces to express the elements of nature into the design. Beautiful photographs of the land were carefully incorporated with natural textures and hand drawn illustrations, creating a textural and organic experience. Contour lines were used to express the tools used to determine site development as well as the fluid relaxing nature of the environment. Photographs of the marsh, basket textures and fishing lures were used to show the history of the land as a fishing village and to convey the idea of the recycled nature of the land itself.
Execution:: The postcards were designed to distribute at Earth Day '07 to raise awareness and build interest in living a more sustainable lifestyle. They are small and compact, printed by a green certified company on 100% recycled, 50% post-consumer waste stock, using soy-based inks. Instead of creating many different pieces, we conserved production materials, energy and resources by creating a versatile larger piece that serves as a brochure, press kit and multifunctional package to house a variety of information. This piece was printed locally on environmentally friendly paper, 20% FSC certified fiber and 80% post-consumer fiber, using soy-based inks.
